My role
As UX Manager, I lead the team of designers and researchers that envisioned, produced, tested, and will soon launch Deep Research in Gemini, a massive leap ahead toward truly Agentic AI.
Challenge
Search revolutionized our world by putting the world's information a keyword and a click away, but it can take even the most skilled searcher scores of searches and hours of reading to turn that information into knowledge. How might we accelerate research?
Solution
Teach Gemini to formulate a research plan, execute it by dynamically browse the web, and write a fully cited, custom report bespoke to the user's needs as expressed in plain language, trimming in-depth research tasks from hours to minutes.

A major advance in how people access and use the world's information, Gemini Deep Researcher is a first-of-its-kind application of Generative AI, enabling Gemini to formulate research plans, dynamically browse the web - including reading deep into even hard-to-find pages of websites - synthesize what it finds into exhaustive reports, and create those reports in minutes.
Deep Research makes quick work of information-gathering tasks that used to take many hours, handily dispatching them in minutes. Simply ask Gemini what to work on, and it does it in the background while you go about your business. When the report is ready, you're notified of its completion.
The report appears in an immersive viewer beside your chat with Gemini, making follow-up conversation about the resarch topic natural and contextual.
Deep Research will be available exclusively to Gemini Advanced subscribers in Fall of 2024.
